PARTHIAN SHOT
(the Hellas Ferry, Paros to Pireas)

The foam toss and seething sea
recedes
beneath this twin dragon's breath
exhaled
behind our speeding leviathan
writing 
in its wake, another myth
for seagulls and fish
to relish
in the turmoil beneath

this meditteranean blue.
 
 
 

 
Are they calloused
by the sea spray salty brine?
Are their politics or loves
anything like mine?
 
 
 
 

 

 Pondering above and thundering along
as holidays and legends pass
like waves
lapping 
the curvature of the past.
 
 
 

 

 We're heading north
like a great Poseidon,
the engines roar
like dreaded sirens
yet not a myth or dolphin
appears
to chase the wake
of part time Argonauts
sailing home.
